Sailing and canoeing on the River Thames in Kingston

About us

Sailing and canoeing

Sailing races at Minima Yacht Club are organised on Sunday afternoons, and Saturday and Wednesday evenings in the summer.  In contrast, canoeing at the Club is purely recreational and no competitive events are organised.  Informal paddling groups go out on Sunday afternoon and Wednesday evenings, and all day ‘Canoe Adventures’, which normally include lunch in a riverside pub take place approximately once a month.

Although the club has a number of sailing dinghies and kayaks which are free for members to use in their first year of membership, members are encouraged to buy their own boat to sail or paddle in the longer term.  Club members and class captains are happy to discuss and advise new members on which boat to purchase, particularly over a drink in the bar.

Our social side

The third string to the Minima bow is the Social side. We have a bar in the upstairs clubroom which is open on Wednesday and Sunday evenings throughout the year.  In addition to this there are a variety of social events including our splendid Regatta BBQ (with live jazz band), international themed nights and even a live theatre night.  Our balcony overlooking the river catches the afternoon sun to perfection and if you have family who do not sail or paddle they can wait for you in comfort after visiting the Kingston shops!
