Forthcoming events at Minima!
Some dates for your diary:
Saturday 26 November: Pot-luck Karaoke
This year’s Entertainment Evening will begin with aPot-luck Supper, starting at 7.00 pm. Just bring along something to share with others (around 4 portions, or so), either savoury or sweet. Can be home-cooked or shop-bought! After sharing the supper, the evening will merge into a Karaoke Night, starting around 8.30 pm, when we will rock the rest of the night away! The event will be FREE and family friendly. Children will be particularly welcome.
Although free-of-charge, places should be booked, in order to give an idea of numbers and an indication of what type of food will be brought, to help us balance what will be on offer. The booking system will open very shortly, so look out for the link to “buy tickets”. And of course, if you fancy the food but not the Karaoke, or vice-versa, that’s fine. Just come for what you want!
Wednesday 30 November: Club-night talk
We are delighted to announce a talk by Philip Beale entitled: Did the Phoenicians Beat Columbus to the Americas? Philip is a sailor, adventurer, expedition leader, historian and author. He will be talking about a modern-day ‘Kon-Tiki’ expedition commenced in September 2019. This involved a 6,000-mile voyage from Carthage, Tunisia, across the Atlantic on a 600 BC replica Phoenician ship. His mission was to establish whether the Phoenicians could have sailed across the Atlantic Ocean 2000 years before Christopher Columbus! For details of his book about the voyage see: www.AtlanticBC.net. The talk is scheduled to begin at 8 pm (30 November).
Wednesday 14 December: Carols Night and informal Christmas Party Now that bonfire night is over, we can finally admit that Christmas is coming. We will be marking the season, as ever, with the inimical Minima Carols Night and informal Christmas Party, on Wed. 14 December. The bar will be open from 7.30 and the carol singing, with keyboard accompaniment, will start around 8 pm. Mulled wine will be available. The singing, which will last about an hour, will be followed by a “do-it-yourself” Christmas Party. Cheese and biscuits/bread
